Lake Eufaula State Park

Lake Eufaula

The former Fountain Head State Park covers 2,800+ acres and is surrounded on three sides by Lake Eufaula. The lake is a dream come true for anglers: largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, Kentucky bass, crappie, catfish, sandbass, stripers among the fish populating the 102,000 surface acres of water. Boats of every size and horse- or people-power enjoy the wide expanses of sparkling water, from the motor boats and jet skis cutting the surface to the canoes and paddle boats unhurriedly gliding across it. Whatever your pleasure, there are boat ramps to launch your boat and a marina for boat rentals. The Lake Eufaula State Park Marina has fuel, fishing docks (both outdoor and heated indoor), tackle and marine shops and a friendly place to meet your fellow campers as well as grab a great breakfast or lunch, Molly Brown’s Cafe.

Trails

Trails are among the many activities for every age and interest. There are two interpretative trails. One, the Crazy Snake (near the Deep Fork Campground) is ADA compliant. The fully paved path winds through cool canopies of centuries-old trees and opens out into meadows splashed in the spring with an array of colors from the wildflowers. The other, the Arrow Maker Trail, is easily navigated with an informational brochure. There’s Bluebird Trail with an amazing variety of trees and plants, and you may catch sight of some of the wildlife that live in the park. No matter if you want to hike, bike or ride a horse, there’s a trail for you.

Even if you enjoy experiencing the local flora and fauna along the trails, the Deep Fork Nature Center is worth a look. Both kids and adults take part in programs and activities led by naturalists that provide fascinating lessons in the native wildlife and plant species.

Amenities

Among the other amenities are beaches that are part of the lake’s 600 miles of shoreline, an 18-hole golf course with putting green and pro shop, a disc golf course, a 3D archery range and an airstrip. The on-site Lake Eufaula Stables offer guided horseback rides and accommodations if you bring your own horse. Comfort stations are conveniently located throughout the park, and there are coin-operated laundry facilities. The kids have their own fishing pond and lots of playgrounds.

The park offers a variety of accommodations:

  • 35 full hookup RV sites
  • 65 RV sites with water and electric
  • 93 tent sites
  • 3 yurts*
  • 1 group camp**

Note:  All yurts come with heat and air-conditioning, bedding, microwave, mini-fridge and electrical outlets. The Longhorn Loop yurt has one fold-out futon and a large picnic shelter, and access to the lake is at your doorstep. The Hummingbird Beach yurt has two full-sized futon bunk beds, is ADA compliant and is conveniently located near the beach. The Longhorn Loop Honeymoon yurt has a queen-sized canopy bed, two picnic tables, a grill, a fire pit and a lantern holder outdoors.  The yurts have no running water. Restroom facilities are nearby.

The group camp is ideal for family reunions, employee bonding trips, any large gathering. It has a fully equipped kitchen, dining hall and four air-conditioned bunkhouses that can accommodate up to 100 people.

This is a massive park and campground with fun activities for the whole family.  If you want to get out and enjoy Lake Eufaula, you will love Lake Eufaula State Park.
